Enter the Creatrix

The Creatrix fascinated the Pirate Queen. This artiste was infused with her obsession to create, and her imagination took over the details of her everyday life. Nothing mattered but making her art. When her pieces were

finished, she lost all interest in them and let them fly to the winds. The research, the brainstorming, the making, the process of creation inspired her more. Her loving carelessness had a vigor, generosity and beauty all its own, as she inspired and encouraged others to build their own worlds. The Creatrix was equally fascinated by the Pirate Queen’s longing for story, and knew that quest would become fuel for more artistic fire.

The Ringmaster

The Ringmaster was a master of truth- that is, of finding the truth about others. His own methods were a little less savory. Brilliant, ruthless and devil-may-care, he was a charming blend of P. T. Barnum and a savage mercenary. He secretly led the guerilla forces that deposed the Princess’ father and despoiled her kingdom, and the price on his head was worth a fortune. The price on returning him alive, however, was 1000 times higher. The Pirate Queen didn’t trust him any further than she could spit whole watermelons, but knew his stories were sheer gold. And if all else failed, there was always that ransom…

A Side Note on the Sins

What makes the Deadly Sins sins?

The Sins are meant to tempt us.

They are designed to entice, to tantalize, to be irresistible and beautiful to us. They are the temptation of the immediate, the quick fix, that which makes us feel good right now instead of creating anything long term.

This is why they work.

But Sins also have their own form of righteousness.

For after all, it’s only a sin if you feel it’s wrong.

This is the trick.

This is what makes us feel sinful, naughty and bad.

It’s the notion of guilt, shame, self-consciousness and fear of what others will think or say about us that makes these Sins deadly.

But what could make a sin fabulous?

Come and join your favorite sin. Let us turn it into something miraculous.

The Lost Princess, fellow traveler

The Princess was the daughter of a ruling family of a lost realm. She moved with majesty and grace, and despite her regal manner was highly trained in the deadly arts. Her royal attire usually concealed a surprising amount of weaponry. While she once ruled armies of soldiers, she was perfectly capable of taking charge of her own battles. The Princess burned to find and rebuild her kingdom, and the Pirate Queen’s quest might prove to be a useful way to further her interests. The Pirate Queen did not fully trust her, but the Princess’ story was too compelling. Somehow, they would find a way to work together.

Tales of the Chosen- The Dark Lady

The Dark Lady awed the Pirate Queen. This immortal woman seemed full of mystery and darkness. The Lady was the beloved of the Vampyr, full of seductive self-interest and casual disdain for those mere mortals who became ensnared in her charms. She was ferocious in fighting and in love, and took glee in the physical and emotional wounds she inflicted. But for all her ferocity, there was a naïve charm about her, as though she had no idea of her full powers. The Dark Lady was feline and graceful, yet awkward in her dealings in the tender emotions. There was a subtle vulnerability about her that entranced. While the Lady had little respect for human needs, she secretly approved of the Pirate Queen’s ability to fight. She would join the epic search, but for that reason alone.

Dreams By Machine: The stories

In the interest of welcoming you to this world- here begins the stories of the Dreams By Machine.

Once upon a time, in a land all its own…

There lived a pirate queen who longed above all else to make a story of her own, one that could be shared with compatriots. She fought many battles, danced many dances and triumphed over odds large and small. She had many stories to tell- but not one that could consume her or make her part of a greater epic. She grew up with such stories, and vowed that one day hers would become one.

She sought the company of those she admired, whose stories seemed beautiful and magical, terrible and unimaginable to her. The hope was that those stories could combine with hers, and together create a tale for the ages.

The start of the Deconstructivist line…

Now just starting.

Lynn and Kristine of the Majestical Roof in Pasadena were both gracious and insistent enough to get my first clothing line started and out the door…

And now, here they are. It’s a good start. Thank you!
