According to legend, Medusa was raped by Poseidon in the temple of Athena. Rather than punish Poseidon, Athena turned Medusa into a monster that could turn men to stone. My newest work, Medusa, is built from a vintage wheelchair, re-used textiles, Foss Shape, and an old dress form. She symbolizes the high percentage of disabled women who are raped, sexually assaulted, and abused– and who are rarely listened to or believed.
