The Firebird is a wheelchair seat cover inspired by Marc Chagall's designs for the ballet of the same name. It was originally created for the Summerset Festival of the Arts as part of an arts event including staple draping and repurposed designs and was modeled by a wheelchair using teenager in the closing parade. Most recently the Firebird was used for the title character in the Firebird, an inclusive, adaptive version of the classic ballet mounted by Abilities Dance Boston.
This piece was built from repurposed and donated fabrics left over from children's television shows and fashion events.
