To make my day perfect, though, I woke up yesterday to an email from Sally Schneider, who writes the blog The Improvised Life. She shared the Opulent Mobility video on her blog, along with some of my words and some of the amazing pieces from the last OM exhibit. What an amazing surprise!
Sally Schneider and I have been emailing back and forth for a while now, ever since my friend and compatriot Kate Conklin introduced me to her blog. I love her style and the blog’s emphasis on freedom, play, and allowing yourself to fail in order to come up with new ideas. I’ve also learned about Ms. Schneider’s assistant Mia, who has both a prosthetic limb and a wheelchair that I’d love to get a crack at decorating. There’s been a lot of time in between emails since all of us are pretty booked, and I wasn’t expecting to hear back anytime soon. Since so many of my efforts at getting the word out on OM have led to nothing, I’ve been practicing patience. I’m not great at it, but I am improving. Sometimes that means I simply forget that I’ve reached out to people- and that was what happened here. So… this was one of the best surprises ever. Many thanks to The Improvised Life, Kate Conklin, Anthony Tusler, the artists of Opulent Mobility and everyone who made the video possible.
